Sailing courses for all ages are available in : Puerto Galera, Lake Taal, Iloilo, El Nido and Subic Bay.
Most sailing courses in the Philippines are very flexible in terms of timing. You can learn to sail over a number of weekends or take a five day course that covers all the basics in one go. If you live in the Philippines and are thinking you want to learn to sail then it is easy to sign up for a 1/2 day introduction to sailing course at most of the popular sail training locations.
If you are looking for internationally recognized certificate courses then you will be focusing on sailing schools in Subic Bay and El Nido; these schools offer International Yacht Training (IYT) courses and certification. At this time, there are no Royal Yachting Association (RYA) certified training schools in the Philippines.

El Nido, Palawan
Sailing Courses El Nido Palawan
Sailing courses at Palawan Sailing, a fully accredited International Yacht Training (IYT) sailing school in El Nido, Palawan. Palawan Sailing offers sailing courses from: Learn to Sail Through to fully certified Bareboat Skipper. There are several boats at your disposal, from 28 feet Yamaha to a 45 foot aluminum/carbon Levrier des Mers. The main classroom is on the ocean but there is also an onshore classroom for studying navigation.
- Sailing courses: Learn To Sail (2-3D), Competent crew (5D); International Flottila skipper Intermediate (6D); Bareboat skipper (7D); choose your own schedule
- Boat types: ocean cruising monohulls (28-45 foot)

Sailing Courses Iloilo
Iloilo sailing courses are available West of Iloilo City, in Oton, at the Iloilo Sailing Club. The sailing club in Iloilo has been in operation for more than a decade and what it lacks in terms of facilities and facade it makes up for in terms of commitment and determination to teach people how to become good sailors. Once you learn to sail in Iloilo you can sail across to Guimaras and taste the sweetest fruit in all the World - the Guimaras mango (according to Guinness World records)

Puerto Galera, Mindoro
Sailing Courses Puerto Galera
Certificate sailing courses for people who want to laarn to sail in the Most Beautiful Bay in the World in the Philippines. All equipment provided. Instruction in English and Filipino. The Puerto Galera Yacht Club sailing school has been in operation since 2004.
- Sailing courses: 1/2 day Introduction or Sailing Courses - Basic, Intermediate & Advanced
- Boat types: dinghy, beach catamaran, keelboat
- Extra facilities: food & beverages at the clubhouse
Sailing Courses Subic Bay
Sailing courses for people who want to learn to sail in Subic Bay at an International Yacht Training (IYT) school; IYT certificates issues upon successful completion of a course. All equipment provided. Instruction in English and Filipino. The Subic Sailing School is a recent expansion of the Subic Sailing club, otherwise known as the Saturday Afternoon Gentlemen Sailors (SAGS), in conjunction with Local Government Units.
- Sailing courses: five 1/2 day sailing sessions per course, can be taken separately or as a one-week course
- Boat types: Streaker, Flying 15, keelboat
- Extra facilities: food & beverages, and accommodation can be provided at the Lighthouse Marina Resort Hotel
Taal Lake, Batangas
Sailing Courses Taal Lake
Taal Lake sailing courses provide for people who want to learn to sail in clean water, close to Metro Manila; Taal Lake Yacht Club is about an hour by private car from Makati City. All equipment provided. Instruction in English and Filipino. The Taal Lake Yacht Club is the home of the Hobie 16 fleet in the Philippines and has been providing sailing lessons for more than a decade on the spectacularly beautiful Taal Volcano lake.
- Sailing courses: Basic, Intermediate & Advanced; choose your own schedule
- Boat types: dinghy, beach catamaran
- Extra facilities: food & beverages at the clubhouse
If you are thinking it would be a good idea to fly to the Philippines to start a sailing course (actually, a very good idea) then you need to know that the main airline hubs are located in Metro Manila and the cities of Cebu and Davao. Subsidiary international airports are located in: Puerto Princesa, Iloilo, Kalibo and Laoag.
The three main domestic airlines are Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific and Air Asia Philippines. In addition, some of the smaller airports are serviced by Air Swift, Air Juan and SkyJet Airlines. Air Juan also provide seaplane services from Metro Manila to a few places that have no airports, such as Puerto Galera, Cuyo Island and Busuanga.
